Seven Years Ago I Discovered That I Had Testicular Cancer . Thanks To The Brilliant Doctors & Nurses Of St. Lukes , Im Still Here Today. To Raise Some Money For St. Lukes , Im giving up Beer( All Alcohol In Fact) for a year with the support of family & friends . I am looking for people to do a month with me during the year . Thanks to everyone who has parted with a few bob to date ....... Just finished writing up my match analysis report from tonights game between Bohs & Shels ........ It's been a long day ......... good night ........... please god .... if you really do exist ......... grant me the luxury of a dream about beer ( throw in a few birds too if you like ....... but lets be very clear on the beer request ) .........

Random Footie Facts

1. I retired from football when I was 11 for two full seasons !
2. After my come back, I won a kennedy cup medal with the Dublin under 14 representative squad.
3. I went on to become a schoolboy international for Ireland.
4. I was a signed schoolboy for Queens Park Rangers , at the time they were in the old first division.
5, I had trials for several clubs in England over a four year period including , Man. Utd. , Chelsea , Tottenham Hotspurs & Leeds United.
6. I turned down a two year professional contract with Spurs to finish my education.
7. I signed for Bray Wanderers & enjoyed 8 great years at the club. I still hold the record for consecutive appearences for the club. I won the senior player of the year twice during this spell.
8. I got capped at semi-pro international level for Ireland.
9. I played in two world student games as part of the Irish soccer team, captaining the side for the tournament in Japan.
10. I retired from playing due to injury but am a UEFA qualified coach currently completing my "A" licence.

Started the "A" licence today ..... brilliant day ... full on but worth it ....... highlight was by far meeting & working with Packie Bonner ...... who is now technical director of coaching for the FAI ........ to those of us of a certain vintage he will never be forgotten due to that penalty save against Romania in italia 90 ............ legend & a gent ....... he's a big unit too !

In some respects it's been hellish ...... but only the odd time . In general it's been brilliant ...... 50 days in ........ the story so far ....... no drink , not a drop , 20 people have joined in & done at least a month ...... 2K raised ....... well on the way to target ( may need to revise ..... again ! ) .......... losing weight ........ saving money ....... sleeping great ......... eating healthy ....... excercising more ........... generally getting a good buzz out of this ........ can't believe the goodwill from people around the world ........... would still stab you for a beer on some days ....... but it's getting better ! ...........Clouds lifting ... sun on the horizon
